Dog Halloween Costume time at Jesse's studio

With Halloween coming up, I thought I'd feature some images from a dog costuming series I did recently. All local dogs, all rescued from shelters or rescue groups, and all a real ham for the camera. We had so much fun with this project. Each dog halloween costume was custom-made to fit each dog's size and personality by my wonderful costuming crew. And below is a little 'behind the scenes' video to show you just how fun we all had. For many dogs, wearing a costume is like doing a job or performing a task- just like basic obedience, agility, ring sport, etc. It is a physical and mental challenge, and once the task is accomplished they get rewarded with treats and praise and feel a sense of pride. They wag their tails, request scratches and belly rubs, and the entire experience is positive. This Halloween make sure your dogs are comfortable and safe in their costumes. Make it fun for both of you, and be sure to reward your dog for their patience.

So, what is YOUR dog going to be for Halloween? Let us know in the comments section!

DOG COSTUMING BEGINS!//BAY AREA'S BEST DOG PHOTOGRAPHER JESSE FREIDIN

Me and my team of costumers are at it again. After the international success of The Doggie Gaga Project, the world is excited to see what comes next. A photography book of dog 'idols' is the newest project, featuring rescue dogs from around the country. Proceeds from this creative project will go toward supporting all rescue groups and animal shelters involved. Costumes are being sewn, cameras are being selected, and dogs from all over the Bay Area are being rounded up for this first step in a series of photo shoots. Every dog featured in the new project has been adopted from a shelter, a no-kill rescue group, or is being fostered before finding their forever home. These new photographs will be their moment to shine, and to show our community the beauty and kindness of a rescued shelter dog.

AND WE WANT YOU TO GET INVOLVED!

IF you own a dog, are fostering a dog, or know of a dog in a shelter that fits these requirements--
-can be handled by dog-knowledgable strangers
-can tolerate wearing clothes/costume
-can obey basic commands and maintain focus
-loves working for treats
-can be in a slightly busy photo studio environment
AND can bring yourself (as the handler) and your dog (as the model) to our San Francisco studio on Sept 24, 25, or 26
THEN please send the following information to: jesse@jessefreidin.com
-Your name
-Your phone + email
-Dog's name
-Dog's breed
-Dog's complete measurements (please follow this handy link: http://www.mijoandbambi.com/sizing.html)
-What day you can attend (Sept 24, 25, 26)
-a photo of your dog
We all look forward to hearing from you and working on this very exciting project.
Please feel free to pass this around to any other volunteers/parents/coordinators in the Bay Area, or beyond.
PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR INTEREST AND ALL ABOVE INFO BY SEPT 16th.
This will allow us to custom fit each costume to your dog, for maximum comfiness.
All dogs involved will receive an 8x10 print of their image, as well as support for their rescue group.
