A Great San Francisco Dog Photography Session

In many families, dogs enter the pack long before kids. Maybe it is a way of testing the waters, maybe it is simply a way of growing the family one step at a time. Whatever the reason, dogs become the core of a family's bond very quickly. Everyone is invited to love, communicate, engage and be open to the family dog's presence, making their short lives with us so incredibly meaningful and influential. This wonderful San Francisco dog photography session focused on that family connection in such a beautiful way. Not only was I photographing Casey (the senior lab mix), I was also photographing the entire family. Casey had already survived cancer, and was strolling into his final golden years. For that reason, this moment in time was such an emotional chapter in the story of their lives that inviting me to document and celebrate Casey was an easy decision for Casey's family. I met everyone in Potrero Hill- one of my favorite parts of San Francisco- to create these black and white dog portraits. Here are a few favorite images from this San Francisco dog photography session. Our final print collection includes three large prints which will be exhibited in the main hallway of this family's home.
